3 LANE WEEKEND

Every year, a group of nerds (My step dad and his buddies) get together for Labor Day weekend and, well, nerd out. Video games, board games, cooking and lots of laughs. I was tasked to create a logo and text lock up for the group so they could have a face for their weekend of festivities. The main game played during this weekend is called DoTA 2 (Defense of The Ancients) in which there are three lanes of play. Two teams defend their base while simultaneously trying to destroy their opponents’. We could’ve easily called it DoTA weekend, but because there are other festivities, we decided to go more creative. The goal was to create something sleek with a hidden easter egg to symbolize the game that brings them together. The inspiration comes directly from the map used in the game that is displayed in the bottom right corner of the screen. The white arrow represents the team using full force on each lane directed toward the enemy base to achieve victory. Each year, I create a new set of stickers for the group to commemorate the occasion. The group will decorate their water bottles, computers, etc with them. Each set is a direct reference to the video game as well as inside jokes and other memories.
